St. Nicholas School seventh-grader Lauren Kiachian saw something that affected her after attending her brother’s soccer game last fall. Kiachian saw that the opposing team kept sliding in and around the field due; to some players were not wearing proper cleats. As a result, she decided to put her brother’s fairly new conditioned shoes into good use, and decided to hold a youth sports-shoe drive.
There Kiachian was able to have shoes donated to charities and non-profit groups for children who may be unable to afford proper sports footwear. Lauren then teamed up with Jeff Maier sports director in YMCA in Mountain View, to find L.A.C.E.S. (Let All Children Enjoy Sports), holding a drive. Now Lauren and L.A.C.E.S have solidified a partnership that focuses on distributing sports shoes to children in need.

Although the feet cease growth in adulthood, they still change shape as they mature. Here are come factors to consider when it comes to investing in properly fitting shoes:
- - Be sure the shoes fit correctly right away

- - Even though they may look fashionable, improperly fitting shoes can either create adverse conditions or exacerbate existing ones you may already have
- - Walk along a carpeted surface to ensure the shoes comfortably fit during normal activity
